Hi all, Tom here again with an update on this week's must-have dance floor vinyl. I've even got a couple of pre orders for you guys to stock up early also - did anyone say new Wolf Music incoming? I know I certainly heard something about that.
Let's kick off without further delay.
Apiento and Lexx come together for some top new edits for Discotecas. Four cuts of Euro-club, Balearic, blissed-out music.
Fitting into that niche space between European house music and eclecticism, with enough sensibility to hook you in, this record is nutrition for the left-field dance music DJ.
Kerri Chandler / Tedd Patterson / Fresh & Low / Arnold Jarvis - Black Vinyl 30 Years
Classic sounding, breezy, thick, deep jazzy house for fans of the real stuff here. Black Vinyl record label celebrates 30 years of putting out tracks with this various artists release of club-ready, soulful, authentic house with beefy low end production.
With tracks by Kerri Chandler, Tedd Patterson, Fresh & Low (my personal favourite here), and Arnold Jarvis, you can’t go wrong. Get this on a big system and feel the room vibrate!
The Nu Groove Imprint is an immediate sign of what we call ‘realness’. In house music terms, this imprint is steeped in history, with fans knowing exactly what to expect. ‘Let’s Work’ combines jackin’ beats and rave stabs to channel a harder-edged sound, ‘Mr Wonders’ feels light, airy, and free flowing, anchored by an acid line and big chunky bass stabs.
‘Not the First Time’ ups the ante with more acid on a tougher tip, and closer ‘Whispers in the Dark’ featuring Juliet Mendoza channels early Chicago house introspection with its spooky, nocturnal dancefloor vibes.
Pre orders:
Fresh off the back of Coffee Cola’s last release, Luke Alessi shows that his label is here to stay - and I’m all for it. Pacy, rhythmic club tracks blending tech house, progressive house, and percussive techno, this record is pure weaponry for the peak time house and techno DJ looking to rip up the club.
All four cuts are equally as hard hitting, but one listen to ‘Dr Bongo’ and you’ll find your feet moving and body shaking - ultimate groove.
Toronto Hustle & Sean Roman - Social Narcotics
Wolf Music might just be my favourite label of the moment. With back-to-back stellar releases, this imprint channels deep, bumping house that touches on US deepness and European euphoria in equal measure.
This particular record, by Toronto Hustle & Sean Roman, takes a deeper turn, with the opening rework by Byron The Aquarius filling out the low end with rumbling, groove-laden bass and swung beat. Nick Holder & Tyron Solomon’s Trackheadz remix of ‘Social Narcotics’ feels like a highly capable warm-up track, with enough intrigue and mystique to pique interest on the dance floor for things to come.
On the flip, the ‘Main’ mix is the standout here, combining the deepness of the A side with percussive drums and curated drops, punctuated by spoken vocals. Club-ready tackle. ‘Late Night Dub’ amps up the percussion and dubbed-out delay to theatrically fill out the mix, whilst retaining enough of that low end to keep it dance floor ready.
Essential.

Until next time people - rave safe.
