Tom2Trax Electronic & Dance - Record Picks 8th July 2026

Whether or not you believe it's coming home, or whether or not you enjoy the 30 degree heat as it blazes its way through Britain, one things for sure, the lighter days and brighter nights lend themselves to extended opportunities to kick back, relax and get lost in the rhythms of your new favourite record as the sun slowly winds down. One such record doing that for me this week is Exotic Gardens' Afternoon Dubs: a dubbed-out trip through echoed sounds that would make King Tubby lose his mind in the sunshine.

This week we've got new jungle breaks from Asc on Over / Shadow, a new release on Test Pressing Tracks from PROA, and some Ron Trent for the house heads. Read on for more information on all of the above and more.

Asc – Dune

Jungle and D 'n' B heads assemble!

ASC returns to Over/Shadow with another strong two-tracker. Dune is a deep and weighty roller, combining dark atmospheres, heavy bass and crisp breakbeats for maximum impact.

On the flip, Moot Point takes a more spacious approach, delivering a hypnotic, atmospheric journey while keeping the label's signature sound firmly intact.

Exotic Gardens – Afternoon Dubs

Sublime, vibes-heavy digi-dub from Aaron Coyes (Peaking Lights/NTS).

This record is the second in Coyes’ three-part Exotic Gardens series - and it’s got all the ASMR-inducing bleeps, spacey echoes, and weighty sub-bass the discerning dub-wise listener craves.

Blending deep dub grooves with hazy samples and psychedelic textures, the EP has a slightly dark rough feel while keeping the warm, hypnotic sound that made Aaron’s previous ‘Morning Dubs’ such a favourite.

Downtempo, deep music heads - don’t sleep on this one.

PROA Ft. Sandy Nuni – Incondicional

Test Pressing Tracks returns with a new one from Spanish mainstay Pau: a warm, late-night club record that sounds somewhere between the sensual depth of early Chicago house and the sun-drenched pulse of modern Balearic sounds.

Pau Roca and Orion Agassi link up for the first time, two respected names from the Spanish electronic scene joining forces on ‘Incondicional’. The original version features vocals from Sandy Nuni, delivering a deep, emotional house cut with a hypnotic groove and understated atmosphere, alongside an instrumental version.

On the flip, Tepper & Apiento take things deeper into dubbed-out territory with a heavy club remix built for late night dancefloors. Another strong outing from Test Pressing Tracks - this high demand sub label is just going to go from strength to strength!

Burnski & Kepler – Feel It EP

If you’re anything like me, you can’t resist a four track, steaming house EP with techno and electronic leanings. Phwoar, this is modern, crunchy, punchy club tackle!

M1 organs, funky stabs, trance-y samples, UK garage influence - all in a neat package of four-to-the-floor club tech house. We love to see it - and hear it!

New African Orchestra / Lost Tymeez / USG – The Ron Trent Collection Vol.1

Ron Trent just has that sound. It’s deep, but spacious and light. It’s a lower than average club tempo, yet filled with rich organic instrumentation to lift you up into the gods with hope, rejoice, and celebratory fever.

‘The Ron Trent Collection Vol.1’ platforms the musical spirituality that makes Ron Trent one of house’s most revered producers.

Marking the long awaited return of the Nite Grooves label, this release is a statement to say the least. From the steady, jazzy restraint of ‘Village Dance’, through to the tribal percussion of ‘The Rhythm’, there’s soul dripping from every corner of this release. The b side continues the rhythms, soul, and spirituality with ‘Everyday’ and ‘Afro Journey Beats’.

A must-buy for the soulful house DJ.

Until next time!
