Tom2Trax Electronic & Dance - Record Picks 4th November 2026

Tom2Trax Electronic & Dance - Record Picks 4th November 2026

Tis the season to be happy if you're a DJ. This week we see part two of the Chip E Chicago compilation fly out, followed swiftly by killer deep house from 'The Robinson', some deep, downtempo, chunky soul reissued from Nathaniel Best, and DJ-Harvey-esque rockin' disco cuts from Moton.

Have at it!

Nathaniel Best – Set Your House In Order

Incoming modern soul bomb. Celestial Echo Records reissues Nathaniel Best's rare 1986 gospel soul LP Set Your House In Order, a sought-after blend of warm synths, drum machines and uplifting vocals.

From the moment the needle hits the record, this is pure downtempo soul bliss. The production is chunky and analogue sounding, just how we like it. This record, despite being laidback and chilled out, has some serious presence on the platter. Act quickly to snag this superb reissue.

The Robinson – Invisible Men

Word has it that the Milan-based duo ‘The Robinson’ know exactly how to deliver a warm, groove-led blend of soulful house, Chicago and electronic influences. We took one listen to this fine slab of wax and immediately understood the message.

Expect stripped-back rhythms, hypnotic grooves and thick, analogue textures. With DJ support from Norm Talley, Torontohustle and Shane Johnson.

Chip E – The Architect Of House - Chicago 1984-88. Volume 2: Unreleased Jack

Chip E’s catalogue of raw, early Chicago house cuts naturally would overspill to a second edition in this series, so here it is.

Volume 2: Unreleased Jack opens the vault on previously unheard recordings from the mid-80’s, capturing the raw, experimental spirit of early house music. 808’s, thick rubbery bass lines, and primitive vocals - such a sweet, sweet sound. These tracks are a glimpse into a pioneering era of emerging music technology and underground club culture.

Moton Records Inc – Skyrager Edits

Skyrager, aka Danny McLewin of Psychemagik, lands on the legendary Moton label with three slinky, sleezy, leftfield dancefloor edits. From obscure 70’s disco-rock, to wonky synth grooves and chunky, slow-motion house, all given his distinctive psychedelic touch. A must-have release for adventurous DJs who play the grooviest parties.

Early support from Lovefingers, Sean Johnston and Ross Allen.

Until next time,

Tom
