ZENA - TEMESGEN

ZENA, the contemporary ethio-jazz duo of Yohan Kebede and Menelik, make their Brownswood debut with TEMESGEN, a six-track EP that reimagines Ethiopian musical traditions through a distinctly contemporary London lens.

Drawing inspiration from artists including Hailu Mergia, Alemayehu Eshete and Mulatu Astatke, the duo combine the spirituality and earthiness of ethio-jazz with modern production and an exploratory approach. The title means ‘Thank God’ in Amharic, reflecting the gratitude that followed the duo’s early live shows and the response to their music.
