Various Artists - Deptford Northern Soul Club
Deptford Northern Soul Club celebrates ten years of shows with a 28-track double-vinyl collection featuring the records that helped define the London-based club night.
Founded by childhood friends Will Foot and Lewis Henderson at Deptford's Bunker Club, the night has grown from southeast London to appearances at Glastonbury, Green Man, Moth Club, Yes in Manchester, Tate Modern and the Southbank Centre. The compilation brings together floor shakers and deep grooves from Candi Staton, Rita & the Tiaras, The Cavaliers, Eddie Parker, Darrow Fletcher and many more.
Rather than treating northern soul as nostalgia, Deptford Northern Soul Club has built a contemporary community around the music and its message, helping introduce the sound to new audiences.
