Product Description

Limited edition re-release 'Oxford's Skatalites' top notch first album. 12 scorcher 90% original ska and rhythm n blues compositions deeply rooted in Jamaican and US sounds of 50s and 60s. Taking inspiration from the likes of Prince Buster, Don Drummond, Jackie 6 Opel, Fats Domino, Rosco Gordon and Huey Piano Smith, bandleader Sir Bald has created a song book that most would assume were covers
of tunes of yester year. The band has performed across the UK (100 Club, Jazz Cafe etc.) and Europe, including Freedom Sounds Festival (Germany) and Dance Ska La (France). They have supported The Skatalites and Toots and the Maytals no less. The Peanuts feature a four horn attack. Between them, the Nine Ton horn section have backed /played with Alton Ellis, Derrick Morgan, Laurel Aitken, Dave Barker, The Clarendonians, Dennis Alcapone, Dawn Penn, Lee Thompson & Dangermen (Madness) Horace Panter & Linval Golding (The Specials) and Steel Pulse. The Peanuts have a new single 'Rule The Roost/ Skaramanga' and a second album 'May Contain Nuts' scheduled for release later in the year. Not to be missed. Genre: Reggae / Ska Listen: Track list: 1.
