Charming, low-key vocals over a funk driven slap-bass with running synth lines puts this cut right in the heart of joyous, coveted boogie. The backing vocals feel almost naive and sweet, crystallising youth culture and a DIY disco feel that so may of those UK Britfunk records had.

‘Why Can’t We Be Friends’ slows the tempo to an almost street soul cadence, again feeling equal parts barebones production-wise yet uplifting, big, and joyous.
