Teenage Fanclub - Do Not Dare To Dream
Teenage Fanclub's thirteenth album Do Not Dare To Dream is a calm, resolute collection that takes stock of a troubled world without surrendering to despair.
Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley are joined by Euros Childs, Francis Macdonald and David McGowan, with the group recording at Black Bay Studio on Great Bernera in the Scottish Outer Hebrides. The remote setting, church organ, synthesisers and surrounding landscape all fed into the record's atmosphere.
Warm acoustic guitars, organ, Mellotron, strings and understated rhythm-section interplay give the album the confident collective identity that has defined Teenage Fanclub's later work, while songs such as Over And Over, Day In The Sun and I Do Not Dare To Dream balance reflection with optimism.
