Sleep - Hempispheres

Hempispheres is the first new Sleep album since 2018’s The Sciences. The latest iteration of the stoner and doom metal pioneers finds founding member and songwriter Al Cisneros joined by drummer Dale Crover, known for his work with Melvins and Redd Kross, and guitarist Bubba Dupree of Void.

Rather than simply recreating familiar territory, Hempispheres takes a more exploratory route. The album brings nuance and subtlety into Sleep’s heavy framework while retaining the slow-burning interplay, repetition and physical weight that have long defined the band. Its five extended pieces allow the new line-up space to stretch out across riffs, rhythm and atmosphere.

Released by Third Man Records, the album is available here in two vinyl editions: an Indies Only Opaque Purple pressing and a standard black pressing. Both contain the complete five-track album across a single LP.
