Scientist – At The Controls Of Dub: Rare Dubs 1979-1980
Scientist's name is synonymous with dub. A protégé of King Tubby, Scientist brought a stripped back, often wildly inventive approach to dub mixing that reinvigorated the genre at the dawn of the digital age. His early work at King Tubby's and later at Channel 1 and with producer Henry 'Junjo' Lawes cemented his legacy.
This collection pulls together rare dub versions from the late 1970s and early 1980s, showcasing his peerless touch on tracks from the likes of Tristan Palmer, Michael Palmer, Robert Trench, Tony Tuff, Rod Taylor, Sammy Dread and Dennis Brown. A golden-era dub session filled with reverb, echo and righteous riddims.
