Midnight Blue – One Wish - South Carolina 1975-83

Past Due Records are at it again with another unearthed collection of gold dust from the past. As it says on the cover, this release highlights the years 1975-83, with some absolute firebombs from the band’s mid-1980s American boogie funk era.

Highlights include ‘Because of You’, which arrives with dripping wet moody synth lines, gospel chorus vocals, and an upfront slap bass that would made Flea quake in his boots. ‘So Fine’ is backed by the kind of electronic bass synth line that instantly fills a dance floor. 

‘Wishing’ turns the heat up a few notches, with baby-making vocal interplay and a super slow BPM. ‘Enjoy With Me’ fires up the tempo again for another rendezvous with the slap bass and synthesiser - a sound typical of this record. Disco heads - there’s a plenty of the good stuff in here.
