Marlena Shaw - The Spice Of Life (Thousand Club)
Marlena Shaw’s The Spice Of Life is a landmark 1969 soul-jazz album, bringing together soul, jazz, blues and socially conscious songwriting around Shaw’s powerful and expressive vocal performances. The album includes two of her most enduring recordings, Woman of the Ghetto and California Soul, and remains closely associated with her legacy.
This Thousand Club edition is an all-analogue pressing on black 180g vinyl and is limited to 1,000 individually foil-numbered copies. Each record is presented in premium packaging with a heavy-duty card sleeve, embossed Thousand Club logo, individual foil numbering, a foil sticker and a protective PVC sleeve.
The ten-track album moves from Woman of the Ghetto and Stormy Monday through Liberation Conversation, California Soul and Anyone Can Move a Mountain. Scheduled for release on 23 October 2026, this numbered Fontana edition combines the original album with the Thousand Club series’ collector-focused presentation.
