Madra Salach - Gorta

Gorta is the debut album from Dublin six-piece Madra Salach, released by Island Records. Named after the Irish word for “hunger”, the record explores inheritance: what is carried forward from earlier generations, what is left behind and the many different forms hunger can take.

Produced by Loren Humphrey in New York, whose recent credits include Geese and Cameron Winter, Gorta moves between stark intimacy and full-band eruptions. The album artwork by Oscar Torrans centres on a Blemmyes, one of the headless figures of ancient legend. Alongside the standard black vinyl edition, the limited Indies/HMV Stone Edition features alternative artwork, earth-colour vinyl and a printed inner sleeve containing lyrics and unseen artwork.
