Maajo & Maajo Soundsystem – Water of Life Dance Dubs reimagines material from the group’s 2022 album Water of Life as a set of stripped-down, rhythm-forward club versions that move far beyond the idea of straightforward remixing. Built around vintage drum machines, synthesizers, new percussion and fresh vocal elements, the EP introduces Maajo Soundsystem as a dancefloor-focused extension of the wider Maajo project.

The release preserves the organic character and cross-cultural richness that define Maajo’s music while pushing it into a more DJ-friendly, dub-wise framework. Contributions from Senegalese artist Ismaila Sané and Mauritian vocalist and percussionist Gilbert K. deepen the connection between live musicianship and electronic production, giving the record a strong sense of identity and movement.

Across four extended tracks, the EP balances hypnotic grooves, Afro-influenced rhythm, spacious arrangement and warm analogue texture.
