Music For Two Films About Water collects two recent film scores by Liz Harris, the artist also known for her work as Grouper. Created for short films by Tanja Engelberts and Takashi Makino, the album approaches water through two distinct cinematic works, moving between literal, improvisatory and impressionistic interpretations of the theme.

Harris builds the pieces from mellotron, tape loops, Wurlitzer and field recordings. “Untitled (from We Exhale)” accompanies Engelberts’ film about the Rhône and the environmental damage embedded in the river, while “Untitled (from Constellation)” scores Makino’s abstract, image-layered exploration of memory and meaning. Released by Kranky, this is a concise meeting point between ambient music, folk texture and experimental film soundtrack work.
