Lambchop - Punching The Clown
Lambchop’s seventeenth album Punching The Clown finds Kurt Wagner returning to first principles, inspired by the centuries-old Scots-Appalachian tradition of lined-out singing.
Recorded over three days at April Base in Wisconsin, the album features Wagner on vocals, Andrew Broder on guitar, Justin Vernon on banjo and a six-part vocal ensemble, with additional choir recordings in London and Minneapolis.
Produced by Ryan Olson and engineered with longtime Lambchop collaborator Mark Nevers, the record is graceful, communal and emotionally direct, shaped by Wagner’s renewed focus on songwriting craft.
The album is available on standard black vinyl and an indies-exclusive Frosted Clear pressing with printed inner sleeve.
