Koen Holtkamp - Nightlife

Nightlife marks a new phase in composer and multi-instrumentalist Koen Holtkamp's long-running exploration of ambient, experimental and electroacoustic music.

Created after Holtkamp moved from Brooklyn to New York's Hudson Valley, the album reflects a slower pace and a deeper engagement with environment. Modular synthesis and physical modelling techniques emulate plucked strings, while contributions from drummer Greg Fox, saxophonist and flutist Matt Bauder and Ben Vida on synth bass expand the project into an imagined ensemble.

Made largely during late-night sessions, Nightlife unfolds as a series of detailed sonic environments where acoustic and electronic sources coexist in a spacious, tactile mix.
