Karate Boogaloo - Access All Areas

Access All Areas finds Australian instrumental funk and soul group Karate Boogaloo distilling their sound to its most direct form.

Drawing on nearly two decades of shared history and influences including The Meters, Booker T & The MG's and The J.B.'s, the group kept arrangements tight, melodies memorable and unnecessary decoration to a minimum. The recordings were made using the band's distinctive analogue approach, with sessions centred around a four-track Ampex 440.

Co-released by Colemine Records and College of Knowledge, the album reflects a collective approach to composition and production, with every member contributing to its focused, groove-led sound.
