Kahimi Karie - Leur L'Existence [Karera] Nosonzai
Leur L'Existence [Karera] Nosonzai is Kahimi Karie's second mini-album, originally released in 1995 and conceived as the soundtrack to an imaginary Trattoria Cinema film starring Karie herself. The concept gives the record a playful cinematic structure, with recurring themes and carefully chosen collaborators shaping a world that feels part soundtrack and part art-pop record.
Keigo Oyamada acted as musical director, while Yasuharu Konishi and Daisaku Kume also played major roles in the arrangements. The record moves through French-pop references, Japanese indie pop and theatrical studio touches, opening and closing with versions of a Serge Gainsbourg composition.
Wakakusa no Koro features Monsieur Kamayatsu, while Itsuwari no Koi - Ai no L'amour - brings Masatoh Ibu into the album's cinematic frame. This edition also includes bonus material associated with earlier limited versions, including the two Let's Sing with Kahimi Karie tracks and Good Morning World.
Pressed in Japan on black vinyl at 33 1/3 RPM, the LP includes a lyric sheet and A-style jacket.
