Elia y Elizabeth - Alegría / Ponte Bajo el Sol
Colombian sisters Elia and Elizabeth Fleta recorded a small but distinctive body of work in the early 1970s, accompanied by Jimmy Salcedo and his group La Onda Tres. Their music brought together soft pop, tropical funk, Caribbean influences and touches of psychedelia, pairing bright melodies with songs inspired by love, nature and youthful curiosity.
This 2026 Vampisoul repress brings two of their most celebrated recordings together on a 7-inch single. ‘Alegría’ and ‘Ponte bajo el sol’ capture the fresh, tropical character that has made the sisters’ recordings enduring favourites among collectors of Colombian pop, funk and psychedelic sounds. The pairing offers a concise introduction to the distinctive sound Elia y Elizabeth created during their 1972–73 recording period.
Originally celebrated decades after their recording, these songs continue to stand out for their melodic warmth and unusual blend of styles. Presented together on a 45, this edition is a compact reissue of two key tracks from the duo’s catalogue and an ideal addition for listeners exploring vintage Latin American pop and tropical music.
