Ed O’Brien – Blue Morpho
Blue Morpho is the second solo album from Ed O’Brien, best known as a key member of Radiohead, marking his first release under his own name and a bold step forward in his solo career.
Written during lockdown and recorded between London and the Welsh countryside, the album captures a sense of reflection, healing and transformation. Inspired by the iridescent butterfly it takes its name from, Blue Morpho blends hypnotic psych-folk, ambient textures, jazz elements and trip-hop rhythms into a rich and immersive sound.
Produced by Paul Epworth with contributions from Riley MacIntyre, and featuring an impressive lineup including Shabaka Hutchings, Dave Okumu and Philip Selway, the album delivers a deeply textured and cinematic listening experience. Tracks like Incantations and Blue Morpho showcase O’Brien’s signature guitar work within expansive, atmospheric arrangements.
Available on standard vinyl and Indie Exclusive ‘Metamorphosis’ orange vinyl, Blue Morpho is essential for fans of Radiohead, experimental indie and forward-thinking alternative music.
