Eagles of Death Metal - Peace Love Death Metal returns to vinyl in a long-awaited reissue of the band's 2004 debut album. Built around the creative partnership of Jesse “The Devil” Hughes and Josh Homme, with Tim Vanhamel also involved in the record, the album introduced the loose, swaggering rock sound that would become central to Eagles of Death Metal. Despite the band name, the music has little to do with death metal; instead it draws on garage rock, bluesy riffs, glam, boogie and a deliberately playful sense of excess.

The album includes two of the group's defining early songs, I Only Want You and Miss Alissa, alongside guest appearances from musicians including Nick Oliveri and Alain Johannes. The record's roots stretch back to the Desert Sessions, where an early version of the Eagles of Death Metal idea had already surfaced, but Peace Love Death Metal was the point where that concept became a fully formed band identity. Its compact songs, vocal harmonies and guitar-driven arrangements established a style that would carry through the group's later work.

This reissue arrives after the album spent more than a decade out of print on vinyl, making it a welcome return for both long-time fans and listeners discovering the band through years of touring, streaming and soundtrack placements. The album has remained a durable part of the band's catalogue, with its best-known tracks continuing to reach new audiences well beyond the original release cycle.

Two coloured editions are available through Ipecac Recordings: an Indie Exclusive White Vinyl pressing and a Red Vinyl edition. Both present the full 15-track album across a single LP, preserving the original sequence from opening track “I Only Want You” through closing favourite “Miss Alissa”.

Musically, the album thrives on economy: short, riff-heavy songs, handclaps, dry humour and a deliberately loose performance style that makes the record feel closer to a rowdy club set than a polished hard-rock production. That character is a big part of why Peace Love Death Metal has endured. It is direct, catchy and immediately recognisable, but still odd enough to feel unlike the mainstream rock surrounding it in the early 2000s.
