corto.alto – SOME SMALL FORTUNE

Glasgow-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer Liam Shortall, working as corto.alto, presents SOME SMALL FORTUNE for Ninja Tune. Built from years of improvisation, studio experimentation and collaboration, the album finds Shortall working on his broadest canvas yet, bringing jazz-rooted musicianship into contact with electronic production, classical ideas, pop structure and indie textures.

The record features corto.alto’s long-time Glasgow collaborators alongside an unusually wide guest list. Mick Jenkins, Vector, anaiis, Oscar Jerome, Jacob Alon, BINA., Terra Kin and Eriff all appear, while drummer Graham Costello, pianist Fergus McCreadie and saxophonist Mateusz Sobieski help anchor the album in the close-knit scene that has surrounded Shortall’s work. The result is expansive without losing the restless energy that made earlier corto.alto releases stand out.

SOME SMALL FORTUNE arrives after the breakthrough of Bad with Names, which earned a Mercury Prize nomination in 2024 and charted across several UK specialist and independent rankings. Since then, the live band has grown into a formidable draw, selling out major rooms and building a reputation for virtuosic, high-energy performances.

The LP is housed in a spined sleeve with a foldout poster and lyric insert, includes a digital download code, and comes enclosed in a printed PVC outer sleeve.
