Caleb – Baby Your Phrasing Is Bad (7" Vinyl)
Baby Your Phrasing Is Bad is a genuine holy grail of 1967 British psychedelia, finally receiving its first legitimate reissue through Munster. Originally released on Philips in June 1967, Caleb Quaye's only sixties single under his own name has long been prized by collectors for its shimmering fuzz guitar, hazy vocal delivery and beautifully surreal period atmosphere.
The A-side rides the same psychedelic wave that was building in London during the summer of 1967, while A Woman Of Distinction on the flip is almost as freaked out, pairing treated vocals with a concise, graceful guitar break. The result is a compact but essential snapshot of UK psych at its most vivid and collectible.
Caleb Quaye would shortly go on to produce the sessions for Elton John's long-unreleased psychedelic pop album Regimental Sgt Zippo, adding extra historical interest to this already sought-after single. A must for psych, freakbeat and rare 7-inch collectors.
