Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club (30th Anniversary Edition)
Buena Vista Social Club returns in a limited 30th Anniversary Edition celebrating three decades since the landmark recording. The album was masterminded by Cuban bandleader Juan de Marcos González, American guitarist and producer Ry Cooder and World Circuit founder Nick Gold, and was recorded in just seven days in Havana's vintage EGREM studios in 1996.
The sessions brought together an extraordinary cast of Cuban musicians including Ibrahim Ferrer, Rubén González, Eliades Ochoa, Compay Segundo and Omara Portuondo. The record went on to win a Grammy, sell millions of copies worldwide and play a major role in introducing a global audience to Cuba's rich musical heritage. Its impact also inspired Wim Wenders' acclaimed film and, later, a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.
This 30th Anniversary edition uses the remastered audio and bonus material introduced for the 25th Anniversary release. It is pressed across two Pearl Sunrise coloured LPs in a gatefold sleeve and includes a 20-page booklet, white inner bags and a sticker. The expanded four-side sequence includes the original album favourites alongside bonus tracks such as Vicenta, La Pluma, A Tus Pies and an alternate trio take of Orgullecida.
