Bazaar Noir - Veil Of Bidaya is a cinematic debut built from Arabian psychedelic soul, dusty funk, cosmic textures and the unmistakable character of analogue recording. The project brings together producer Shuko, whose credits include Anderson .Paak, Evidence and Chance The Rapper, keyboardist Roberto Di Gioia, known for work with BJ The Chicago Kid and Max Herre, and Jan Krause of The Poets Of Rhythm. Their combined experience gives the album a deep musical vocabulary without making it feel overworked.

Recorded entirely with vintage analogue equipment, Veil Of Bidaya treats tape hiss, saturated drums, reverb-heavy guitars and warm synthesizers as part of the composition. The result bridges East and West while avoiding a simple retro exercise. Tracks such as “Saif”, “Sahar”, “Marrakesh” and “Cold Medina” suggest imagined journeys through night-time streets and desert landscapes, while “Disco Inferno” and “Planet Of The Japes” bring a heavier rhythmic pull. The album moves like a soundtrack to a film that has not yet been made.

At the centre of the record is “Dreams in Gold”, featuring Cairo vocalist Heidi Al Sabban. Her voice floats above a 1970s-inspired soul arrangement of reverberating guitar and boogie-toned analogue synths. The song’s sense of longing and transcendence captures the album’s wider theme: the search for beauty, connection and revelation behind the veil. Elsewhere, brief pieces and longer grooves are sequenced to create a continuous journey rather than a collection of unrelated tracks.

The production is detailed but deliberately tactile. Instruments retain their natural edges, rhythms breathe, and the recording process remains audible. That gives the album the atmosphere of a rediscovered private pressing while its arrangements and low-end weight remain firmly contemporary. Listeners drawn to psychedelic soul, desert funk, library music, spiritual grooves and globally minded beat production will find a great deal to explore.

Presented on black vinyl through For The Love Of It, Veil Of Bidaya is a striking debut with a strong visual and sonic identity.
