@ – Mind Palace Music
@ - Mind Palace Music is the debut album from Philadelphia guitarist Victoria Rose and Baltimore producer and musician Stone Filipczak. Created almost entirely remotely, the pair exchanged recordings between their two cities during 2020, building an intimate folk-pop record out of a process that was physically distant but musically close.
The duo describe their sound as hyperfolk, blending acoustic songwriting with ambient and lo-fi ideas. The supplied notes point to influences ranging from Vashti Bunyan and Laurie Spiegel to Elliott Smith, Alex G and Sparklehorse, but the album is presented as its own small world rather than a simple exercise in nostalgia. Songs move between delicate acoustic arrangements, flute, drone-like textures and subtly uncanny digital details.
Originally released in 2021, Mind Palace Music was later reissued by Carpark Records. This edition is offered in both a standard vinyl version and a limited blue and white marble vinyl pressing. The limited colour variant is marked by the supplier as non-returnable. Across eleven tracks, @ balance careful songcraft with experimentation, creating a record that feels familiar, personal and quietly unusual.
