Cale's 'Right Down Here', transformed into a deep-funk groove with her distinctive, ethereal vocal style. Produced in the UK by Del Newman, the record captures an artist whose boundary-crossing approach would later connect her work to jazz innovators, underground disco and generations of hip-hop sampling.
