Toumani Diabaté, Sidiki Diabaté, Balla Diabaté, Ahmed Diabaté – Héritage

Toumani Diabaté, Sidiki Diabaté, Balla Diabaté, Ahmed Diabaté - Héritage is the final album from Malian kora master Toumani Diabaté, recorded with his three sons in the family home in Bamako. Conceived before Toumani’s death in July 2024, it was the first album to bring the four musicians together as a family ensemble.

Toumani imagined the project as a “choir of koras”: gentle, spiritual and deeply rooted in the Diabaté family’s long lineage of hereditary Mande musicians. The album connects that tradition with new arrangements and contemporary touches while keeping the kora at its centre, including the culturally rich Mande, which draws on material associated with Mali’s musical heritage.

A moving final statement from one of West Africa’s most influential musicians, Héritage reflects both Toumani Diabaté’s extraordinary legacy and the continuation of that tradition through the next generation of his family.
