The Allergies – Beneath This Sun
The Allergies - Beneath This Sun keeps the Bristol duo’s party-ready sound moving forward with another sample-heavy mix of hip-hop, funk, soul and dancefloor energy.
The album moves quickly between styles: Dig It Up brings double-bass weight to a boom-bap foundation, Resistance combines psych-rock scale with rap, and Leave Me Alone pushes into dancehall territory. Guests include Knytro, Aziza Jaye, BlabberMouf, HybridMP and KAI, while longtime collaborators Andy Cooper, Marietta Smith and saxophonist James Morton also return.
With cosmic disco, Latin funk, jazz-hop and cut-and-paste beatmaking all feeding into the record, Beneath This Sun plays like one of The Allergies’ DJ sets translated into album form: upbeat, varied and built around big hooks and strong grooves.
