Quintetto X – Mentira
Quintetto X - Mentira revisits one of the early recordings connected to the Bari Fez collective and the formative period that would lead to Schema Records. In the early 1990s, musicians around Nicola Conte were developing a distinctive Italian response to the UK acid-jazz movement, combining groove, experimentation and Mediterranean character.
This 7-inch presents Quintetto X’s reinterpretation of Marcos Valle’s classic Mentira in a new two-part format, unfolding across both sides of the 45. Originally issued in 1994, the recording mixes sophisticated rhythm, refined jazz harmony and Brazilian influence with the club-facing energy of European acid jazz.
Newly remastered from the original masters, this Schema edition gives collectors and DJs a fresh way to hear a defining piece from the label’s early history while preserving the warmth and groove of the original performance.
