Isoda has worked across video-game music, film composition, classical production, Okinawan music, television and collaborative projects, developing an approach in which acoustic instruments, field recordings and electronics can coexist naturally. His collaboration with aus on \u003cem\u003eInterwoven\u003c\/em\u003e also reflected a musical philosophy shaped by fluctuation, imperfection and organic movement.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMuch of \u003cem\u003eEPILOGUE\u003c\/em\u003e consists of compositions Isoda has returned to and reconstructed from his present-day perspective. Opening piece “TANEKOMA” takes its name from the Izu Robin, a rare bird native to Hachijō-jima, the volcanic island where Isoda lives. A recording Isoda made of the bird in the mountains becomes part of the composition itself, making the track both an environmental document and a deeply personal invocation. “Circulation 2”, meanwhile, develops from a work concerned with the relationship between forest, sea and the movement of water, with flutist Dogen Kinowaki replacing the original piano melody.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eKinowaki also contributes to a newly reimagined “Beach of the Pliocene” and supplies multi-tracked flute for “A Flowering Tree”, a piece first written for film in 2013. “STEPS”, originally composed for film in 2008, looks back toward the electronica of that period; this version adds vocals from Tsutomu Sonoda of maya ongaku. The title track from Isoda's 1991 New Age album \u003cem\u003eYume no Sazanami\u003c\/em\u003e is reconsidered too, with Tatsuro Murakami's layers of nylon-string guitar replacing elements of the earlier chamber arrangement. “WATERWAYS” transforms an abandoned demo through a collaboration with ambient artist Aiko Takahashi.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eClosing with “EPILOGUE”, the record arrives not as a conventional career summary but as music continuing to change in the present. Nature, collaboration, memory and Isoda's surroundings on Hachijō-jima connect pieces written across different periods of his life.
