Produced by Haley Heynderickx in her first lead production role alongside producer/engineer Sahil Ansari, the record was made across ten consecutive days and is built around layered voices, subtle instrumentation and orchestral flourishes. Its songs move through love, heritage, risk, the preciousness of time and the impact people have on the world around them, while retaining the lived-in warmth Houdei wanted the recordings to carry.

Several songs were written in Topanga as Houdei settled into a new home while wildfires raged, far from the Ozark Mountain home to which she remained deeply attached. That relationship with place runs through the album: seasons shift, sunlight appears, and natural imagery becomes part of a wider sense of change and uncertainty. Houdei describes the record as psychedelic, an idea reflected less in excess than in its shifting colours and world-building. Buck Meek of Big Thief also appears on lead single “The Ground Here”, adding another voice to an album shaped by collaboration and close attention to texture.

The physical making of the record extended beyond the studio. Houdei set herself the task of sewing a unique patch for every song during the album's creation; those patches eventually became the quilt that appears on its cover. The album also marks her first release under the name Biita, pronounced “bee-tah”, a name gifted by her auntie that means “unique” in Farsi and which Houdei has connected with feeling closer to her Persian heritage. These personal details reinforce an album concerned with identity, memory, home and the slow process of making something by hand.

Presented here on 180g black vinyl in a gatefold sleeve with a download code, This Bed Was Made For Me is designed as a complete album experience rather than a collection of isolated moments. Its unhurried folk songwriting, harmony-rich arrangements and gently psychedelic atmosphere place Houdei in conversation with the likes of Judee Sill, Bonnie Dobson, Weyes Blood and Fleet Foxes while establishing a character of her own.
