Fridays New Releases - July 1st
July, where did that come from? Out of nowhere!
Gwenno - Tresor (Indies Exclusive Deluxe Vinyl)
Gwenno is back, and after another spin of the language roulette it has again landed on Cornish. For those not familiar, her two previous albums have been sung in Welsh and Cornish, languages that translate into really pretty music, but are equally deceptive, as you might think something deep and poetic is going on but really she's singing about cheese - see 'Eus Keus'
Paolo Nutini - Last Night In The Bittersweet
Sold out on pre order...I know.... how have I let this happen. Rest assured more will be here first thing next week. Let me know if you need a copy keeping aside. The big return of Paolo and I've blown it!
Naima Bock - Giant Palm (Orange Vinyl)
I've loved the singles leading up this, it was always going to be one I'd enjoy, and I hope you will also! It's all very well done, nicely arranged and tidy musicianship. Folk with a slight latin flavour, but I don't really know what I'm on about, others may well come up with a better description. I won't say anymore but it's going to be right up there when it comes to picking my albums of the year. Listen to Campervan.
Keane - The Best Of Keane
First time on vinyl, one for the keen Keane fans. Check out the track list, it is pretty good.
Ash - 1977 (Black & White Splatter Vinyl)
Yeah it's the one with Girls From Mars on... it is a gooden. Got a bone to pick with this one though, this colour variant isn't just exclusive to independent stores and HMV, but AMAZON also.... if anyone from the label is reading this, that is mental, Amazon being tagged in on the 'exclusive', kind of defeats the object...
Shinedown - Planet Zero
New shinedown! I'm not quite sure why the cost was so high on this one, but alas, it's here should you desire a copy.
Yard Act - Dark Days EP (Silver Vinyl)
Nice silver vinyl of dark days EP. Most of you love these lot, if you need a copy come and get one.
Warmduscher - At The Hotspot (Clear Vinyl)
Out since April but now on vinyl. Produced by the Hot Chip guys, funkier and dancier, still rocks.
Various Artists - Touching Bass Presents: Soon Come
22 tracks split between 'day and night moods'. Touching Bass is a London based label, club night, concert series, and dabble in radio. Click through to the track list, features shop favourite Nala Sinephro amongst others.
Spencer Zahn - Pale Horizon (White Vinyl)
To me, nice and relaxing, but not my area of expertise when applying words to it - for fans of Ryuichi Sakamoto.
Tractor - Tractor (50th Anniversary Red Vinyl)
Favourites of John Peel, a folk rock group signed to his dandelion label back in the early 70's.
